Bluebird has scooped two books from bestselling author and spiritual coach Vex King, slated as superlead titles for the publisher.
Carole Tonkinson, publisher at Bluebird, acquired UK and Commonwealth rights, excluding Canada, at auction from Jane Graham Maw at the Graham Maw Christie Agency. The first untitled book will be released in 2023.
“Bluebird are incredibly excited to bring their passion for purpose driven projects and their digital community expertise to Vex King’s publishing, and expand Vex's readership in the UK and beyond,” the publisher said.
King's debut Good Vibes Good Life (Hay House) has sold more than 500,000 copies in the English language and been translated into 29 languages, the publisher said. His second book, Healing is the New High (Hay House), was released this April and also hit the number one spot. Through Nielsen BookScan in the UK he has sold 250,295 books for £2m, excluding lockdown weeks.
Tonkinson said: “Working with Vex is a dream come true. His ability to articulate deep spiritual truths in a relatable way is a gift to readers around the world. He speaks from a place of deep personal experience informed by study and reflection and yet he conveys his insights in a friendly, light way that can be shared with people of all ages, stages and walks of life.”
King commented: “I’m delighted to be working with Carole and her team. Bluebird fully support my vision to inspire and empower the world with kindness. My work sets out to bridge the gap between spirituality and practicality, by making ancient wisdom accessible and relatable. It’s great to know I have such wonderful people behind me to further my reach.”
Graham Maw added: “We were fortunate to have several incredibly strong pitches from UK publishers but the team at Bluebird felt most aligned to Vex King’s mission and we are thrilled to be partnering with them for these books.”
