Bloomsbury Spark signs self-published authors

Bloomsbury has signed two self-published authors, Lauren Blakely and Lyla Payne, to its YA and “new adult” e-book imprint Bloomsbury Spark.

Lauren Blakely is the pseudonym of Daisy Whitney, who will write a novel and a novella for Bloomsbury Spark. The novel, 21 Kisses, is aimed at the new adult market and will hit the shelves in spring 2015. The novella, which is yet untitled but has a holiday theme, will publish in autumn 2015.

Both titles are part of a new series, ‘Wrapped Up in Love’, which is a spinoff of Blakely’s self-published ‘Caught Up in Love’ series.

Lyla Payne (real name Trisha Leigh) is writing YA novel The Historians, which Bloomsbury Spark will publish in spring 2015, and the Christmas new adult novella Mistletoe and Mr. Right, which will be released this December.

Meredith Rich, digital editor at Bloomsbury Spark, acquired the world rights to all the titles from Michelle Wolfson of the Wolfson Literary Agency.

"I have been a fan of both of these authors for a long time now, and I am thrilled to be working with them on their newest projects," she said. “Both Daisy and Trisha are great examples of savvy hybrid-indie authors, and perfect for the Bloomsbury Spark list. I’m so excited to bring the support of a traditional publisher to their alreadysuccessful track of self-published e-books.”

Bloomsbury will release all the titles in the US, the UK, India and Australia.
