Bloomsbury has signed a memoir by Anna Lyndsey, describing her rare condition which means she has to live her life in darkness.
Girl in the Dark was signed by Helen Garnons-Williams at Bloomsbury, in a deal with Jane Finigan at Lutyens & Rubinstein and David Forrer at Inkwell. Doubleday has US rights, while nine other territories have been sold.
Lyndsey's condition means that at best she can go outside at dusk, and at worst must stay in a blacked-out room, using audiobooks and word games for stimulation.
The book is described as "a captivating account of the importance of love, the power of words and the resilience of the human spirit" and will be released in March 2015.
