Bloomsbury relaunches Harry Potter website

Bloomsbury Publishing has relaunched its Harry Potter website to complement the new book editions illustrated by Jonny Duddle.

The site features all of Duddle’s artwork, including downloadable images, as well as a Harry Potter quote generator, glossary and who’s who.

There are also videos of author J K Rowling, a section for teachers with study guides for each of the seven books, and a shop where customers can buy the print editions directly from the publisher.

Ian Lamb, head of children's marketing and publicity, said the site was created created to promote the new books rather than in response to fan site Pottermore. Extra content, including games, will be added in the coming months, he added.

Bloomsbury revealed its plans to launch the new books with Duddle’s covers in March, when it also announced a series of Harry Potter books that are fully illustrated by Jim Kay. The first Kay edition, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, will be published in autumn 2015.

In other Harry Potter news, Bloomsbury is this weekend placing a giant 3D jacket [pictured] of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone at Kings Cross station in London, for travellers to take their own “Harry Potter Book Selfie”.

The giant jacket will be on the station’s main concourse from 7a.m. to 7p.m. on Saturday 30th August.
