Bloomsbury Children’s is launching an “Illustrators in Residence” programme for this year’s Independent Booksellers’ Week, which runs from 29th June to 6th July.
In conjunction with the Booksellers Association, Bloomsbury has set up the series of events which will see eight of the publisher’s illustrators visiting shops in their local area during the week, and undertaking projects such as creating murals, designing windows or sketching customers.
The illustrators taking part are Debi Gliori, whose most recent book is What’s the Time, Mr Wolf?; Mark Sperring and Alys Paterson, who created The Shape of My Heart; Sarah Dyer, whose books include Five Little Fiends; Sam Lloyd, who has illustrated Vincent the Vain and Dino-Baby; Yasmeen Ismail, whose début picture book Time for Bed, Fred! is published in July; Jess Mikhail who illustrates the Florentine and Pig series; and Tom Percival, who illustrates the Skulduggery Pleasant series, as well as his own picture books.
Shops interested in taking part should email emma.bradshaw@bloomsbury.com, and copy in sharon.benton@booksellers.org.uk, by 31st May.
