Bloomsbury and the National Archives are to continue their partnership publishing children’s fiction and non-fiction titles, with four more planned for the next year.
Two titles that look at the Great Fire of London will be published on 12th September—non-fiction Great Fire of London Unclassified (£10.99 hardback) and Ann Turnbull’s novel The Great Fire: A City in Flames (£4.99 paperback).
Publishing director of Bloomsbury Children’s Books Jayne Parsons said it also has First World War titles forthcoming for the 2014 centenary, including a novel from Tony Bradbury, My Brother’s Keeper.
Parsons also said Bloomsbury was extending the partnership to include adult titles, with a book about maps—including “a visual history of map treasures”—in September 2014.
“It’s an interesting partnership because the National Archives is a national institution, and it gives the books an imprimatur stamp of authority that no other publisher has," she said. "We wanted books that would stand alone but read well together in the classroom, and we try to tie it in with something in the curriculum or an event.”
