Bloomsbury Absolute has struck a two-book deal with Michelin-starred chef Angela Hartnett.
The imprint will publish The Weekend Cook in July 2021, with the second unnamed title to follow in 2022. The books were acquired by Bloomsbury Absolute publisher Jon Croft, who bought world rights in all languages from Tim Bates at Peters, Fraser & Dunlop.
Croft commented: “I’ve been shamelessly pursuing Angela, in a good way, for many years in the hope that one day she would feel ready to set herself to writing a brilliant book for us. I really couldn’t be more pleased that we will all be working together to produce two works of culinary charm and brilliance from one of Britain’s most beloved chefs. It should be fun!”
Hartnett has an MBE for services to the food industry and is the author of Angela Hartnett's Cucina: Three Generations of Italian Family Cooking and Angela's Kitchen: 200 Quick and Easy Recipes. She has sold 21,778 for £426, 976 through Nielsen BookScan UK TCM.
She said: “I am thrilled to be working with Jon Croft and his lovely team at Absolute. They have all been very welcoming and hospitable and I know they are brilliant at producing beautiful and best-selling cookbooks. I’m sure we’ll create some wonderful books together.”
