Bloomsbury Children’s Books has acquired world rights to two picture books by Guardian cartoonist Stephen Collins and debut author Jim Whalley.
The first title, Baby’s First Bank Heist, is about a baby who tries to rob a bank. It was originally created by Whalley as a present for Collins when Collins’s first child was born. It will be published in June with Whalley’s text and Collins’s illustrations.
A second book, Baby’s First Jail Break, will follow in summer 2019.
“We are thrilled to bring this utterly fresh partnership to the market,” said Emma Blackburn, publishing director at Bloomsbury. “We’ve fallen in love with Baby Frank and we know you will too. Stephen and Jim are a match made in heaven and we’re sure this is a future classic in the making.”
Blackburn struck a deal with Sam Copeland at Rogers, Coleridge and White.
