John Blake Publishing is publishing three novels by crime writer Hilary Bonner as e-books, one on Christmas eve.
A spokesperson for John Blake Publishing said: “We have regularly seen a huge surge in our e-book sales over the Christmas holiday, as people download books on to Kindle readers they have received as presents.
"[Blake and Bonner] have been good friends for years and thought it was a great opportunity to work together."
The first title, The Cruelty of Morning - a bestseller for Heinemann in 1995 when it originally published - is due to publish this Christmas eve as an e-book, priced £5.99. Books two and three are A Fancy To Kill and A Passion So Deadly respectively; they will publish during 2016, with specific dates to be confirmed.
Bonner has written 12 books and is a former chairman of the Crime Writers Association. She said: “John Blake and I are old friends from the days when we worked in newspapers together. I have had a great time being published by Pan Macmillan and the rest, but I thought it would be exciting to try something completely different.”
John Blake added: “We are moving to publish more fiction next year. Persuading Hilary to give us a try was a fantastic coup for us.”
Blake acquired World eBook rights from Bonner directly.
