Former prime minister Tony Blair is to hold a signing of his memoir A Journey at Waterstone's Piccadilly next month.
Blair will be signing books at 1pm on 8th September at the bookseller's flagship store. Those wishing to attend the signing are subject to some strict security conditions; customers cannot be photographed with Blair, there will be no personal dedications and all bags, backpacks and briefcases must be checked in, along with cameras and mobile phones, before meeting the former Labour leader. Blair will sign a maximum of two books per customer.
Customers who wish to have a chance to meet Blair will have to show proof of purchase of his book from Waterstone's at the morning of the signing. They will then receive a wristband, which allows entry to the signing queue. However, it does not guarantee Blair will sign the customer's book.
A Random House spokesperson described the security arrangements as "common practice" for an event of this size, adding they were along similar lines of when former US president Bill Clinton had signings at the same store.
The book is being given a simultaneous worldwide release on 1st September. Other signings have yet to be confirmed.
