Blackwell's stems losses

<p>Blackwell Ltd, the business that includes Blackwell Retail, Blackwell's Online and Blackwell's Book Services, recorded sales growth of 12.5% in the 10 months to June 2000, helping the group reduce its losses. Sales grew to &#163;176m, with its pretax loss reduced to &#163;0.9m, compared with a full-year loss of &#163;2.9m in 1998/9. Blackwell Retail grew sales by 10% to &#163;62.9m, but costs incurred integrating Heffers led to an operating loss of &#163;1.8m.</p><p>Online sales, through Blackwell's Online, grew by more than 20%.
