Academic retailer Blackwell has struck a new partnership with the Jewish Book Council to become the official bookseller for next year's Jewish Book Week.
As part of the partnership, the festival will showcase the BeBook e-reader, recently launched in the UK via Blackwell, and the bookshop's exclusive print-on-demand machine Espresso.
Geraldine D’Amico, director of Jewish Book Week, added: “Most of the books on sale at the festival will be our speakers’, yet is still very important for us that our audience can find the latest relevant publications even if their authors are not taking part in the Week.
"We are also aware of the fact that more and more people buy their books through the internet and our visitors will be able to buy books directly from Blackwell through our regularly updated website, www.jewishbookweek.com."
She added the partnership would offer "a great opportunity" to develop the festival's tour programme with events taking place at Blackwell branches around the country, "thus offering more opportunities to our speakers to give talks outside of London".
The international literary festival, which was established in 1952 and takes place every spring, is estimated by organisers to draw 12,000 people, and has drawn high-profile personalities such as Martin Amis, Christopher Hitchens, Harold Pinter, Salman Rushdie and Oliver Sacks in the past. Organisers say it is their aim "to offer a true forum for balanced and intelligent discussion".
