Sophia Blackwell is to join The Bookseller as head of marketing.
Blackwell is currently marketing manager at global professional publisher Kogan Page and has previously worked in marketing and publicity management roles at Bloomsbury, Palgrave Macmillan and Taylor & Francis.
Blackwell is a publicity and marketing mentor for the Society of Young Publishers and has been a trainer on online marketing for the Publishing Training Centre.
Speaking about the appointment, Nigel Roby, chief executive of The Bookseller, said: "I could not be more delighted that Sophia has joined The Bookseller. She brings a wealth of experience across all the publishing sectors The Bookseller serves. More than that she has a highly-developed sense of how the book trade is changing and developing."
Blackwell will be responsible for driving uptake and engagement across all parts of The Bookseller’s print, online and live operations, including the up-coming Children’s Conference on 29th September.
Blackwell described the move as "a once-in-a lifetime opportunity", saying: "I am hugely looking forward to joining The Bookseller’s inventive and energetic team, and being part of an organisation that has such a central role in our agile and dynamic industry."
Blackwell can be contacted from Monday 3rd August on firstname.lastname@example.org and 0203 358 0386.
