Black & White Publishing has acquired two titles by Anna Deacon and Vicky Allan, The Art of Wild Swimming: Scotland and The Art of Wild Swimming: England and Wales.
Campbell Brown, managing director, acquired world rights from Jenny Brown Associates, with both titles to be published on 26th October 2021.
The two titles will teach readers how to be the safest, most joyous and invigorated wild swimmers they can be – and where to do it. From the rocky coves in Cornwall to the peaty lochs of the Cairngorms, these books will bring together the top swimming spots across Scotland, England and Wales as recommended by local, experienced wild swimming communities, with a focus on responsible tourism, says the publisher.
The authors have previously written Taking the Plunge (2019) and For the Love of Trees (2020) together, both published with Black & White.
Brown said: "Since the publication of Taking the Plunge in 2019, Anna Deacon and Vicky Allan have continued to promote the benefits of wild swimming in the UK. As more and more people discover the joys and restorative powers of outdoor swimming, we are delighted to be publishing these new guides filled with beautiful photography and everything you need to know to stay safe, have fun and feel empowered, produced by these two community-focused experts."
Deacon commented: "We’re writing the guidebooks we wish were available when we started on our wild swimming journeys, aiming to answer all the questions we hear new swimmers ask. The wild swimming community is so wonderfully inclusive and inspiring, and we are drawing on their local knowledge throughout The Art of Wild Swimming. Within the books, we’ve focused on locations that don’t have too delicate an infrastructure – we’re conscious of not adding to the issues of over-tourism in some of the UK’s beauty spots."
