Black & White Publishing has acquired two psychological thrillers set in a "claustrophobic, close-knit community full of secrets and lies" by crime author SJI Holliday.
Campbell Brown, c.e.o. of Black & White Publishing, signed world English rights to the novels, Willow Walk and The Damselfly, from Philip Patterson of Marjacq Scripts.
Willow Walk and The Damsleyfly are set in Banktoun, the fictional town where Holliday’s “gripping” debut Black Wood - also published by Black & White - was set.
Williow Walk follows the story of local barmaid Marie Bloomield, who after being stalked by the brother that no-one knew she had, sets off a chain of events that “will bring tragedy to the whole community”.
Holliday said: “I’m delighted that Black and White are publishing the next two books in what I always thought would be a loosely-linked trilogy. The style and content of Willow Walk is quite a departure from Black Wood; I had great fun writing it, despite the dark nature of the plot and I can’t wait to share it with my readers.”
The deal was announced at Bloody Scotland Crime Writing Festival in Striling at the beginning of September, where SJI Holliday appeared on the New Crimes panel chaired by Alex Grey.
Willow Walk will be published in spring 2016, with The Damselfly following in 2017.
