Indie Black & White Publishing will be releasing ghostly thriller Watch Over Me in B-format paperback, after selling 100,000 copies in e-book form.
The novel by Daniela Sacerdoti follows a woman’s escape to her childhood home in the Highlands from a failing marriage and overbearing family.
Company m.d. Campbell Brown said the e-book success would "help us develop the way we publish", and said: "We initially published a trade paperback of the book in late 2011 - it was a début novel so our expectations had to be realistic, even for such a terrific book and especially in a crowded new fiction marketplace ... We started our e-book programme towards the end of 2011 through Faber Factory, and did an e-book of Watch Over Me at that time. Then it was chosen for the Amazon Summer Reading promotion - in August, it sold a phenomenal number of copies. Our aim now is to find that other 70% of the market that still prefers the printed book."
Brown said that pricing had been key in driving strong e-book sales, with the e-book priced between 82p and £1.99 since the summer, and B&W plans to use more online marketing techniques for the paperback. Campbell said: "We found a lot of positive reaction online and it’s a case of tapping into that positive reaction again with new promotions, blog tours, reviews and so on. Plus in-store publicity and signings where possible and interviews and features in the traditional media."
The paperback will be released on 14th March, priced £7.99.
