"Black comedy" to Blasted Heath

Digital-only publisher Blasted Heath has acquired a "terrific black comedy" set against the world of English football.

Co-founder Allan Guthrie acquired world English digital rights to debut The Vanity Game by H J Hampson from Judy Moir at the Judy Moir Agency. Blasted Heath will publish in June 2012.

The Vanity Game is "a terrific black comedy about a striker who finds that substitution can be a fate worse than death", according to the publisher. It followers Beaumont Alexander, who has a violent argument with his girlfriend which leads to an encounter with a shady cartel.

Guthrie said: "It's a very brave and powerful piece of transgressive fiction. Heather's a very talented young author and we're delighted to be publishing her."
