Biteback publisher Iain Dale, founder of the original Politicos bookshop, has bought back the brand and relaunched it as Politicos.co.uk.
The site aims to carry "the widest selection of political titles on the web", offering the latest in political literature and advance information on books. Customers will also be offered "specialist and hand-crafted suggestions" on books they might enjoy. Politicos.co.uk will also offer interviews and podcasts with political authors, as well as loyalty schemes and offers and promotions.
Dale said: "The original Politicos managed to build a real political community. Our aim is now to do that online. We will be offering more than just books for sale. We want the site to become a destination site for all political enthusiasts."
Customer involvement would be important, he added. "Price is important to some but added value is something we think our community will cherish more than just massive discounting. We want to build up a database of regular customers who will see us as a vital part of their online experience."
The Politicos bookshop in Westminster closed in 2004, and its online site was sold to Harriman House two years later.
