Big Green Bookshop turns publisher

The co-owner of the Big Green Bookshop has launched his own publishing company and is set to release his first book with author Greg Stekelman.

Simon Key, co-owner of the independent bookshop based in Wood Green, London, has named the company Timeline Books. It will publish London Tales, an illustrated work about the city, next month. Creator Stekelman is the author of The Man Who Fell Asleep (The Friday Project).

The pair have printed 250 copies of the book and it will go on sale on 10th November. He said: "The book comprises 100 images of London with a very unique take on it. Stekelman writes in a very unique way and the book is beautiful and lavish."

It will be sold for £40 through a micro-site soon to be launched and through the Big Green Bookshop and its website. Stekelman is an avid tweeter with over 17,000 followers, and the book will be advertised through Twitter.

Stekelman said: "Simon spoke to me about the fact he had quite good relationships with people within the publishing industry and felt he could set something up, but it has been a learning curve for everybody involved. We thought we would do it as a limited edition as an art book and the first 50 ordered will be signed with a personal illustration inside."

Key said he will wait to determine his next publishing project.
