BBC Two's popular weekly prime-time book club series “Between the Covers”, hosted by Sara Cox, is returning for a third series this autumn.
Four different celebrities join Cox in each half-hour show to discuss a newly published book club choice. Each guest also recommends one of their favourite books of all time.
Executive producer Amanda Ross will again preside over the book selection. The production team includes series producer Pollyanne Conway and Prima books editor Nina Pottell as consultants on the book club choices. Julia Kingsford continues to manage submissions and trade communications.
Following the series' successful debut run last October on BBC Two in a 7.30 p.m. slot, a second series launched in May this year, enjoying a peak audience of more than one million live viewers. Guests have included Mel Giedroyc, Graham Norton, Rob Delaney, Rick Stein, Katherine Ryan and Nish Kumar. Every book mentioned on the show enjoyed a sales uplift, producers say.
The book choices last series were The Fine Art of Invisible Detection by Robert Goddard (Transworld), Should We Fall Behind by Sharon Duggal (Bluemoose), Sixteen Horses by Greg Buchanan (Mantle), Another Life by Jodie Chapman (Penguin Michael Joseph), The Last House on Needless Street by Caitriona Ward (Viper Books) and The Frequency of Us (Sphere) by Keith Stuart.
For series three, publishers are invited to submit books published in hardback between 8th May and 29th October 2021 via the Cactus website, where the full submission criteria can be viewed. Submissions close on 22nd July.
All the featured books will be stickered and available in bookshops, libraries and online, with viewers encouraged to join in the discussion using #betweenthecovers.
