Bonnier Books UK has appointed Ruth Bennett as senior commissioning editor, responsible for commissioning new titles across its children’s and YA trade division.
Bennett joins the company in October. She will work on building the lists for the Piccadilly Press and Hot Key Books imprints, reporting into Emma Matthewson, children’s fiction executive publisher.
She has most recently worked on the fiction lists at Penguin Random House and Scholastic, commissioning new titles and working with authors such as Robin Stevens, Kes Gray and Rick Riordan. Prior to that, she was editorial director of the Stripes list at Little Tiger, where she commissioned YA anthologies Proud and A Change is Gonna Come, and worked on a range of acclaimed series and standalone titles, from Tracy Darnton’s Waterstones Children's Book Prize-shortlisted The Truth About Lies to Linda Chapman’s Star Friends series.
Bennett said: "I'm delighted to be joining the wonderfully creative and engaged team at Bonnier Books UK. I cannot wait to work with the exceptional talent on the Piccadilly and Hot Key lists and to bring new acquisitions and ideas to the table at such an exciting moment for children's and Young Adult fiction publishing."
Matthewson added: “I am thrilled that an editor of Ruth’s calibre and experience is joining the team at Hot Key Books and Piccadilly Press at Bonnier Books UK. These are exciting times for us and I am so looking forward to Ruth coming on board.”
