HarperCollins strategy manager Alex Beecroft has been appointed to the newly-created role of director of corporate development for HC UK, with immediate effect.
In the new role, Beecroft will run the strategy team and have responsibility for all mergers and acquisitions in the UK business. He will report to c.e.o. Charlie Redmayne.
HarperCollins said that he will also: "work closely with Redmayne on the day-to-day business, taking a lead on some of the on-going projects currently happening around the company. He will actively seek out new opportunities as well as exploring business efficiencies and innovations."
Alex joined HarperCollins via the graduate scheme in 2009, working first as an analyst and then as a strategy manager. He has worked across various business developments and strategy projects across the company, including the acquisition and integration of HarperCollins India.
In 2013, Beecroft was named as a Bookseller Rising Star.
Beecroft said: “I’m excited by this opportunity to work alongside Charlie. The business is going from strength to strength and I’m really look forward to building on that success and driving it further.”
Yesterday (16th October), it was announced that HarperCollins m.d. Simon Johnson would be leaving the business after seven years.
