Independent publisher Beautiful Books has signed up artist and author Molly Parkin to write her memoir of life in London during the '60s, '70s and '80s.
Publisher Simon Petherick bought world rights to Welcome to Mollywood from agent Laura Morris, and plans to publish this October "in a variety of simultaneous formats" including hardback, audio, e-book and video. Parkin will also be filmed reading the whole book, and this will be made available as a download.
Beautiful Books said the memoir would include 'appearances from her famous lovers" - James Robertson Justice, John Mortimer, George Melly, Bo Diddley - as well as "stories of her drinking days with Francis Bacon at the legendary Colony" and her friendship with fashion designer Zandra Rhodes.
Petherick has also acquired Parkin's backlist - 10 erotic novels - and is planning to start republishing them next year in "a striking new design format".
