Beatty wins Author's Club Award

<p>Laura Beatty has won the &pound;1,000 Author&rsquo;s Club First Novel Award for <em>Pollard</em>, beating Poppy Adams and Guardian First Book Award nominee Ross Raisin. The title, which was published by Chatto last year, will be released as a Vintage edition in July.<br /> <br />The shortlisted titles for the prize, which is chosen by club members, were: <em>God&#39;s Own Country</em> by Ross Raisin (Viking); <em>Girl Made of Dust</em> by Nathalie Abi-Ezzi (Fourth Estate); <em>The Behaviour of Moths</em> by Poppy Adams (Virago); <em>Broken</em> by Daniel Clay (HarperPress); <em>Pynter Bender</em> by Jacob Ross (Fourth Estate); and <em>Road From Damascus</em> by Robin Yassin-Kassab (Hamish Hamilton).<br /> <br /> </p>
