'Be guided by your author,' urge Torrey Peters campaign managers

Being “guided by the author” and creating an empathic fan base were key ingredients in the success of Torrey Peters’ Detransition, Baby (Serpent’s Tail) and Richard Osman’s The Thursday Murder Club (Viking), The Bookseller’s Marketing & Publicity conference has heard.

Both teams described the “pivoting” that the UK lockdown necessitated in their campaigns, in addition to carefully chosen media and bookshop appearances.
