BBC Books signs new Mary Berry

BBC Books has acquired Mary Berry’s new cookbook, Mary Berry’s Absolute Favourites, a tie-in companion to her new six-part BBC Two series of the same name.

Lizzy Gray, editorial director for BBC Books and Ebury Press, acquired world rights from Fiona Lindsay at Limelight Celebrity Management Limited.

Gray said: “Mary Berry Cooks is the bestselling nonfiction book of the year so far and we are very proud to be publishing Mary’s next tie-in cookbook. The new book is Mary’s most delightful and personal collection of recipes yet. She invites us into her life and reveals the moments, people, places and ingredients that inspire her very favourite dishes.”

BBC Books will publish Mary Berry’s Absolute Favourites, which will include 100 new recipes, on 26th February 2015.

Berry’s last book, Mary Berry Cooks the Perfect, has sold 48,188 copies through Nielsen BookScan since its publication in September, while February’s Mary Berry Cooks has sold 255,222 copies. It was a tie-in with Berry’s six-part series of the same name, broadcast from March until April this year, which achieved viewing figures of 3.2 million. Berry’s books have been worth £21,767,260.09 to booksellers to date.
