BBC Books has acquired a tie-in title to accompany chef Rick Stein's forthcoming series about Spanish food.
BBC Books senior publishing director, Shirley Patton bought world rights (all languages) to Rick Stein's Spain from Barbara Levy at the Barbara Levy Literary Agency.
"I’ve wanted to make a series in Spain for a long time," said Stein. "I love Spanish food, I’ve been going there since I was a young boy—but until quite recently I don’t think people really took the food seriously . . . No one cooks fish with more respect or grills meat better."
The title will follow Stein's journey from Galicia where he will sample seafood, Cantabria where he will find chorizo, trout in Navarra and the tapas bars of Seville. Stein's four-part BBC 2 series of the same name will be broadcast next spring, plus a Christmas special.
Rick Stein's Spain will be published on 5th May 2011.
