Bath children’s festival line-up announced

Lauren Child, Michael Morpurgo and Benjamin Zephaniah are some of the big-name authors appearing at this year’s Telegraph Bath Children’s Literature Festival, which will take place 26th September – 4th October.

Author David Almond, who is the guest artistic director for the second time this year, said: “Children’s literature lies at the beating heart of our culture. It is where stories have their start and where literary culture  is constantly renewed.”

For teens and YA fans, the festival will host authors such as Melvin Burgess, Sally Green and Robert Muchamore. Zephaniah will read from Terror Kid (Hot Key Books), his first novel in seven years.

Authors for younger children, including Emma Dodd and Carla Vulliamy are taking part, while fans of funny books will be able to see Philip Ardagh and Andy Stantan. American writers appearing at the festival include Holly Black, Cassandra Clare and Henry Winkler.

Michael Rosen will also launch ‘the Guildhall’, a hub for the festival’s school programme.

Booking for the festival opens 14th July.
