Independent Bath-based bookseller Mr B’s Emporium of Reading Delights is being "twinned" with Parisian independent Shakespeare & Co next week to celebrate the publication of Nina George’s The Little Paris Bookshop (Abacus).
In the book, Jean Perdu has a rare gift for sensing which books will soothe the troubled souls of the customers at his ‘literary apothecary’ in a restored barge on the Seine. However, he still nurses a broken heart twenty-one years after the love of his life left him, until the arrival of an enigmatic new neighbour inspires him to unmoor his floating bookshop and search for his beloved.
On 28th April, the two bookshops will take part in a "virtual bookshop exchange”, in which both shops will be in conversation on social media to prescribe books for every emotion or occasion, inspired by Perdu’s ‘literary apothecary’.
The Little Paris Bookshop was released yesterday in paperback for an r.r.p of £12.99.
