Barnes, Ishiguro and Smith make Booker shortlist

<p>Julian Barnes, Kazuo Ishiguro and Zadie Smith have all made the Man Booker Prize shortlist, but early favourite Ian McEwan and fellow former winners Salman Rushdie and J M Coetzee have not made the cut. The shortlist is completed by John Banville, Ali Smith and Sebastian Barry. Independent publisher Faber has two titles on the shortlist.
