Baddiel pens second children’s book

HarperCollins Children’s Books will publish The Person Controller, the second children’s book from author and comedian David Baddiel.

Illustrated by Jim Field, the book is about Fred and Ellie and will be published this October.

Baddiel said: “If you’ve ever played a video game and thought ‘yeah, it’s fun… but it’d be better if that was actually me, leaping through space, or building enormous towers in blocks out of the ground, or beating the entire Real Madrid team to score a goal” - The Person Controller might be for you’.”

Ann-Janine Murtagh, executive at HarperCollins Children’s Books said Baddiel is a “truly special and original voice” in children’s books. “He brings a big, bold imagination, brilliant comic timing and a flair for storytelling that captivates children and adults alike. His new book delivers all the hallmarks of his debut and more.”

Baddiel’s first children’s book, The Parent Agency, was published by HarperCollins Children’s last year, after the publisher signed a in a two-book deal from Georgia Garrett at RCW.

Sales of The Parent Agency, also illustrated by Field, have so far reached 35,306 copies, with a value of £234,918.48, in the UK, according to Nielsen BookScan.
