The Diddle That Dummed (Hodder Children's) by Kes Gray and Fred Blunt has been selected as the Booksellers Association's Children's Book of the Month for July.
The Diddle That Dummed is the story of Flinty Bo Diddle who is writing a tune for his fiddle. All his diddles have lined up nicely, except one in the middle who keeps going "dum".
Sharon Benton, marketing manager of the Booksellers Association, said: “The Children’s Book of the Month promotion was paused for April, May and June but we are delighted to announce that we are restarting this promotion from July to coincide with the reopening of bookshops across the country. We are delighted that The Diddle that Dummed will be the Book of the Month for July.”
Gray commented: "As the story of coronavirus continues to unfold, the reopening of indie bookshops is a most welcome page turned. I’m thrilled that The Diddle That Dummed will be adding to the smiles in indie bookshops UK-wide in July!”
Independent bookshops around the UK and Ireland will be promoting The Diddle that Dummed throughout July, both in-store and on social media. The Booksellers Association will be supporting the promotion of the Children’s Book of the Month through social media and downloadable marketing material.
