Avon takes on Authonomy success

Avon will publish the debut novel by Kat French, an author on HarperCollins’ writing community Authonomy.

Undertaking Love will be published in summer 2014, following “impressive e-book sales and a wealth of 5-star reader reviews”, said Avon.

Editorial director Eleanor Dryden has also secured world rights from French for two further titles to be published in 2015 and 2016.

Dryden said: “There’s a fantastic, uplifting energy about Kat’s writing that had the Authonomy and Avon teams hooked straight away.

“Kat French is already a runaway self-publishing success, writing as Kitty French, with Kindle bestsellers Knight & Play, Knight & Stay and Knight and Day.

“We’re huge fans of Kat French across HarperCollins and we’re committed to building a stellar career for this exciting new voice in commercial women’s fiction.”

Scott Pack, director of digital content development at Authonomy, said: “We are always thrilled when one of our Authonomy discoveries goes on to secure a big deal with our colleagues. Kat has a big career ahead of her.”

HarperCollins launched Authonomy in 2008 as a platform for authors to publish their works online.
