HarperCollins' Avon imprint has signed two books by Michele Gorman.
Senior commissioning editor Lydia Vassar-Smith signed UK and Commonwealth rights from Caroline Hardman at Hardman & Swainson.
The first book, The Curvy Girls Club, will be published in January 2015. It tells the story of a group of women who meet through a weight loss group and form a popular social club of their own.
Vassar-Smith called it a "hilarious and heart-warming" story which gives the reader "the community and camaraderie of Calendar Girls on a topic that women never tire of talking about – weight loss.”
Gorman is the author of Single in the City series, the first book of which was published by Penguin Books, and Bella Summer Takes a Chance, as well as the Christmas e-book shorts, The Twelve Days to Christmas and Christmas Carol (all self-published).
Bella Summer Takes a Chance, released in February 2013, reached number one in the Amazon UK humour chart and number six in the overall chart.
