Author Vanessa Curtis, whose novels include Zelah Green and The Haunting of Tabitha Grey (both Egmont), has set up a new literary consultancy.
The Curtis Literary Agency aims to help authors improve their books prior to submitting to agents or publishers.
“Although I’m a children’s author myself and so therefore have a particular interest in children’s and YA, I also offer editorial guidance to authors of adult fiction and non-fiction,” Curtis told The Bookseller. “I’m currently working with a couple of adults who are hoping to improve their sci-fi/fantasy novels but I also work with authors of contemporary and historical fiction and hope to work in other genres, too.”
Curtis's debut Zelah Green (Egmont) won the Manchester Children’s Book Award. Next year, Usborne is publishing her novel The Earth is Singing, about a Jewish girl in Riga whose father is taken away by the Soviet army during the Second World War. The book will be published on 27th January, which also marks the Holocaust Memorial Day and the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz.
