Aurum reaches final frontier with 'Star Trek' book

Aurum Press has bought a book delving into archive material from science fiction television show "Star Trek"

Commissioning editor Sam Harrison acquired UK and Commonweath rights to Star Trek Vault: 40 years from the Archives from international sales group manager Amy Levenson at luxury book producer Becker & Mayer.

The illustrated title is written by “Star Trek” commentator and comics writer Scott Tipton. The result of “unparalleled” access to the archives of TV company CBS, the title will include never-before-seen images plus removable memorabilia including captain’s chair blueprints, rare leaf trading cards, an iron-on vintage T-shirt transfer, wrap party invites and international movie posters.

Harrison said: “Scott Tipton has delved deep into the CBS archives and discovered an absolute treasure trove of photographs and memorabilia from all six 'Star Trek' television series and the 10 original feature films, while taking an in-depth look at the making of each series and movie.

"Star Trek Vault is the ultimate celebration of a pop culture institution.”

Aurum Press will publish in October 2011, packaging the title inside a hardcover slipcase.
