Audible signs Logan thriller

Audible has signed a new, original audio project from Kirsty Logan.

In 2021 Audible will release The Sound At The End–an "immersive, audio rich psychological thriller" by Lambda Literary Award, Polari Prize and Saboteur Award-winner Logan. Audible secured worldwide English language audio rights from Alice Lutyens, head of original audio at Curtis Brown.

"Set on a decommissioned oil refinery in an Arctic ice field, with nothing to punctuate the barren landscape but a handful of old grave markers, the story centres around a skeleton crew of six workers and newly arrived film-maker Trieste Grayling," reads the synopsis. "When their decaying work station is hit by a series of freak weather events, tensions begin to rise and the team’s relationships are pushed to breaking point."

Logan said: "I love psychological horror, I love snowy landscapes, I love getting really deep into characters, and I really love creating stories for audio–so this is a dream project for me. I can't wait to drag listeners down into the chilly, murky depths of this story, so we can all discover what's hiding there in the dark."

Audible UK commissioning editor Harriet Poland added: "With our short story collection, Hag, Kirsty took to the challenge of writing for audio with so much creativity, engagement and thoughtfulness. I couldn’t be more excited she’s creating something new for us, building audio into the storytelling from the ground up. The Sound at the End brings Kirsty’s exceptional talent to life in a fully sound designed audio novel full of unstable climates, disquieting characters and dark acts. This is a gift for audio, and I know listeners are going to be mesmerised."
