Audible.co.uk has released its first multi-cast audio dramatisation, of The Child by Sebastian Fitzek, “significantly ahead" of the book’s English-language release in the UK.
The Child, a German thriller about a lawyer who becomes embroiled in the case of a chronically ill child who insists he is a reincarnated murderer, was acquired by Sphere in the UK earlier this year, but is not due for release until 2016.
The publisher will first release Fitzek’s The Nightwalker in March next year.
Jade Chandler, senior editor for Sphere fiction, said: “We’re very excited about the audio dramatisation, which has some great acting talent attached to it, and are delighted with what Audible are doing for Sebastian’s profile in the UK.
“Sebastian’s books are page-turning and astonishingly original and we’re looking forward to releasing both titles with a brand new cover look.”
Audible has put the first hour of its dramatisation of The Child up on YouTube for anyone to listen to for free.
Steve Carsey, director of original programming (UK) at Audible.co.uk, said: “We are delighted to be bringing such a thrilling, fast-paced and superbly-produced audio drama to UK audiences.
“With Hollywood production values - and such a high profile and talented cast bringing Sebastian’s story and characters to life - The Child promises to intrigue, set pulses racing and genuinely raise the bar of audio entertainment around the world.
“We very much hope that audiences are just as excited about this fantastic release as we are. ”
Among the cast members are Andy Serkis, Emilia Fox and Rupert Penry-Jones, with narration from Robert Glenister.
