Audible has signed an “astonishing” audiobook on Lawrence of Arabia from broadcaster and writer Kevin Jackson.
World English language audio rights to Legion: Thirteen Ways of Looking at Lawrence of Arabia were acquired by Andrew Rosenheim from Matt Turner at RCW. It will be released exclusively through Audible on 17th September.
The synopsis explains: “Legion unearths not only a trove of little-known facts and stories about Lawrence’s life, but also the fascinating details of what he has meant to many people, both in his lifetime and ever since. He has been hailed as the last Romantic hero, despised as an agent of imperialism, blamed for the disasters of Middle Eastern politics, and admired as a genius by countless eminent people; from statesmen such as Winston Churchill and Andre Malraux, to writers such as E. M. Forster and George Bernard Shaw. He was immortalised in David Lean’s masterpiece 'Lawrence of Arabia'.”
Jackson said: “Lawrence of Arabia is well known, but not known well. I have spent much of my adult life thinking about the many aspects of his genius, and am sincerely thrilled that Audible has given me the chance to tell a new generation about his strange and glorious life.”
