Allen & Unwin has signed a novel following the final years of The Great Gatsby author F Scott Fitzgerald.
The publisher signed Stewart O'Nan's West of Sunset in a deal for UK, Commonwealth and Australia and New Zealand rights with Rachel Clements at Abner Stein on behalf of The Gernert Company.
Clare Drysdale, Allen & Unwin's UK director, said: "West of Sunset will be required reading for anyone who loves The Great Gatsby. Stewart O'Nan has performed an astonishing act of literary ventriloquism to recreate, with great subtlety and pathos, the final, tragic years of Fitzgerald's life amidst the corrupt glamour of Hollywood."
Rights have also sold to Rowohlt in Germany and Editions de l’Olivier in France. Allen & Unwin will publish in August 2015.
