The Times/Cheltenham Literature Festival has reported a 4% increase in ticket sales, with the 2010 total at 120,000, up 5,000 from last year's event.
The total includes attendees at all the main programme, children's, and free events throughout the festival, which ran from 8th to 17th October and included appearances from Salman Rushdie, Peter Mandelson, Jilly Cooper and Michael Caine.
Artistic director Sarah Smyth said: "We felt that it was a strong and eclectic programme and I was particularly pleased by the increased number of writers from overseas who took part."
The festival's figures have shown a steady increase since 2006, when the ticket sales were 77,000.
