Jeffrey Archer has rewritten Kane and Abel his most successful and famous novel, reports the Telegraph. The revised novel is to be published by Macmilan.
According to the piece, it took Archer 500 hours more than nine months to rework the text. He told the Daily Telegraph: "I just decided, having reread it, that I could improve it. I did not think it would take much. But, in fact, I added some 24,700 words to the original manuscript. But the final copy ended up 7,000 words shorter than the first edition. So I think it's better crafted now after 30 years of writing. But the plot remains the same."
It would be a first for Archer and Macmillan, the publishers, if the revised book returns to the top of the bestsellers after such a long gap.
