Jeffrey Archer, Marian Keyes and Stacey Halls were among the authors at this year's Bertrams Christmas conference which saw Abingdon indie Mostly Books win bookshop of the year.
The event aimed to offer Bertrams’ independent bookshop customers and publishers a different format to a typical trade show, in the form of a ‘Christmas conference’ at Repertory Theatre in Birmingham on Sunday 29th September.
All attendees were treated to presentations and Q&As with an exciting mix of authors and literary talents; including Jeffrey Archer, Marian Keyes, Conn Iggulden, Stacey Halls, Anton Du Beke, Adele Parks.
The event combined a publisher showcase of forthcoming titles with a strategic presentation from the Bertrams commercial and marketing teams, alongside special guest speakers, the launch of the Bertrams Christmas marketing campaign and an awards presentation.
The event saw the launch of the inaugural Bertrams Awards, sponsored by Penguin Random House, which aims to recognise and celebrate excellence amongst Bertrams’ customers.
Mostly Books in Abingdon won bookshop of the year while A Bundle of Books, Kent triumphed in the specialist bookshop of the year category. Norfolk Children’s Book Centre, Norfolk won community project of the year. The winners each received a trophy, award certificate and a monetary prize to spend on books at Bertrams.
