Apple sells more than 3m iPads

<p>Apple has sold more than three million iPads, 80 days after its introduction in the US and nearly a month after it first came to the UK, the manufacturer has claimed.</p><p>Although there was no word on how many iBooks have been downloaded, there are now more than 11,000 apps available specifically for the iPad, with 225,000 apps available on all devices, including the iPhone and iPod touch.</p><p>&quot;People are loving iPad as it becomes a part of their daily lives,&quot; said Steve Jobs, Apple&#39;s c.e.o. &quot;We&#39;re working hard to get this magical product into the hands of even more people around the world, including those in nine more countries next month.&quot;</p><p>Overnight, the IOS 4 software came into use, enabling iPhone users to access the iBookstore. </p><p>However, it appears that only books published by the four companies originally selling through Apple &mdash;Hachette UK, Penguin, HarperCollins and Pan Macmillan&mdash;are still available to buy.<br /> </p>
