The Audiobook Publishing Association (APA) has announced the 20 titles for its Best Audio Books of the Year trade promotion, in conjunction with Agile Marketing and the Book Marketing Society.
The annual promotion, which follows last year’s "40 Best Audiobooks", considers titles published between January 2008 and March 2009. The list includes fiction, non-fiction and children’s titles, including The Road by Cormac McCarthy (Naxos), The Boy in the Dress by David Walliams (HarperCollins), and The Last Fighting Tommy by Harry Patch, including an original recording by the 111-year-old veteran.
The promotion kicks off in Waterstone’s tomorrow (26th June) followed by other retailers promoting the stickered stock prominently, plus 20 "classic" backlist titles such as Sense and Sensibility, and last year’s top 40 title, The Life of Pi. A free consumer brochure will be available at POS, featuring articles on audio by abridger Kati Nicholl and audio actor Kerry Shale.

A shortlist will be revealed a month before the end of voting on 11th September, with the winner announced at the end of September.
