Aitken Alexander Associates' head of rights Anna Watkins will join United Agents as a foreign rights agent in early March.
Watkins joins foreign rights agents Georgina Le Grice, Amy Mitchell and Jane Willis and rights executive Alex Stephens in working across the agency’s range of authors and illustrators.
Watkins has more than 10 years of experience in translation rights, having worked at Aitken Alexander for the past six years and previously at David Godwin Associates. She has sold translation rights on behalf of Booker and Pulitzer Prize-winning authors as well as delivering early translation sales for international successes such as Hanya Yanagihara’s A Little Life (Picador) and Oyinkan Braithwaite’s My Sister the Serial Killer (Atlantic Books).
She said: "It has been a joy to work with brilliant colleagues and authors at Aitken Alexander for the past six years and I will miss them enormously. However, I am hugely excited at the prospect of joining the amazing team at United Agents and working on their incredible and varied list."
United head of books Rosemary Scoular said: "Our foreign rights team goes from strength to strength and we’re delighted that Anna has decided to bring her experience and her passion to the mix. It’s our intention to continue to invest in the broadest possible ambition for each of our authors, and in supporting our brilliant and expanding group of associates and agents. We look forward to Anna’s arrival ahead of the London Book Fair."
