Ann Cleeves funds internship at Pan Macmillan

Pan Macmillan author Ann Cleeves has set up a bursary which will enable a paid intern to work in the publisher's publicity department, on a campaign for an upcoming book by the crime writer.

The Ann Cleeves Bursary will fund the 12-week internship, which will run from 1st October and is open to candidates living or working outside the Greater London area.

Cleeves said the impetus behind the bursary was concern over how difficult it is to break into the publishing industry, particularly if you don't live in London. She said: "I worry that we are depriving bright and enthusiastic young people of a career in books and that we're limiting the vision of the industry."

Candidates can apply online via the Guardian, or can email a CV and salary expectations to stephaniehall@atwoodtate.co.uk. The deadline for applications is 24th August.
