Angry Robot has bought two "supernatural urban fantasies" by author Chris Holm.
Publishing director Marc Gascoigne bought world rights across all formats from Jennifer Jackson at the Donald Maass Agency in New York.
The first book, Dead Harvest, will be published in March 2012 with the second, The Wrong Goodbye, to follow that autumn. Both books follow Sam Thornton, who is a Collector; a person who gathers souls to dispatch into the underworld. The first novel is about how he refuses to collect the soul of a young woman who he believes is innocent of a crime she is accusing of committing.
The publisher said: "His debut novels walk the fine line between classic hardboiled noir and Jim Butcher-esque supernatural fantasies."
