Andrew Scott is to narrate the audiobook version of Meg Rosoff's upcoming novel The Great Godden.
The audiobook, hardback and e-book editions will be published simultaneously in July 2020, with Bloomsbury releasing signed copies early for Independent Bookshop Week.
Scott is best known for his TV roles in "Fleabag" and "Sherlock", and for critically acclaimed theatre performances including "Hamlet" and "Present Laughter".
Rosoff will be appearing at IBW in two virtual events, including a conversation with ITV News art editor Nina Nannar, in parntership with The Aldeburgh Bookshop and Aldeburgh Jubilee Hall on 25th June.
Describing the book, she said: "The Great Godden arose from the memory of one childhood summer that seemed to last for years and that, only in retrospect, announced that childhood was over."
The synopsis says: "The Great Godden is the story of one family, one summer - the summer when everything changes. In a ramshackle seaside house which their family has visited every summer since forever, an unnamed narrator sees everything, including many things that shouldn’t be seen, as brother and sisters, parents and older cousins fill hot days with wine, games and wedding planning. Enter the Goddens - irresistible, charming, languidly sexy Kit and surly, silent Hugo. Love, betrayal and the end of innocence are all packed into the biggest short book you could wish for, a summer classic-in-the-making that sits alongside Bonjour Tristesse, The Greengage Summer and I Capture the Castle as an essential coming-of-age read."
