Andrew Nurnberg Associates (ANA) and the Istanbul-based AnatoliaLit Agency are to go into partnership.
The AnatoliaLit Agency was founded 10 years ago by Amy Spangler and Dilek Akdemir, and represents an international roster of publishers and agencies in its capacity as co-agents, in additional to selling rights for a select list of authors from Turkey.
Andrew Nurnberg is the agent for Harper Lee, and his firm has a number of overseas offices already.
Nurnberg said: “I’ve been fascinated by the Turkish market for a number of years, where there is a keen interest in literature from all over the world, a plethora of independent bookshops and a broad array of publishers large and small. I have also been following Amy and Dilek’s initiatives and efforts, and have admired their utter professionalism. Dilek’s knowledge of children’s writing is an additional bonus. Turkey is a natural addition to the ANA network and we are delighted by this new association.”
Spangler said that “times are changing and the Turkish market is developing, which in turn means the publishing industry in our territory is becoming increasingly professional”.
“We want to make sure we have all the necessary capabilities to foster that change, as well as to welcome new clients looking for reliable, responsive representation in our territory, and to provide all existing and future clients with the services they deserve,” she continued. “That necessarily means growth—and what better way to grow, and to mark a decade of business, than to partner up with a highly respected international agency like Andrew Nurnberg Associates, from whose experience we are bound to benefit.”
The new partnership will formally start on 1st April.
